Vice Chairperson - Parish Councillor Jeff Winder Telephone: 01229 869522 Email: candjwinder@tiscali.co.uk Hello. I am your Parish Councillor for Little Urswick. I have lived in Little Urswick with my wife Christine for 25 years. My children, Rebecca and Amy, attended Low Furness Primary School and before that Urswick Grammar School. I served as a Governor at both of these excellent schools. I am involved in the Little Urswick Green Committee and you will often see me either helping to cut the grass or painting the bus shelter. I believe that with a little help from the whole community we could make our village an even better place to live. If I can be of help to anyone, please contact me. |

Parish Councillor Nancy Cowsgill Telephone: 01229 465611 Email: nancycowsill@hotmail.co.uk My name is Nancy Cowsill, I have lived in Stainton for 35 years spending my early school days at Urswick Grammar School and most of my adult life working with animals; currently running our family farm with my husband. I am married with 2 teenage children and also work part time for Harrison Coward Estate Agents. I enjoy being part of the Stainton with Adgarley community and have been on the Recreation Hall Committee for 10 years, currently as secretary. I hope to be of use to local residents, to help solve problems, to encourage the community spirit I grew up with, and to try to keep our villages safe and happy places to live. |

Parish Councillor Geoff James Telephone: 01229 585229 Email: geoffmjames@aol.com I, together with my family, moved to Urswick 20 years ago and we are privileged to live in this beautiful and attractive parish. I am married with 2 sons and I enjoy gardening, walking, caravanning, messing about with my old car and helping the local community through my membership of Rotary. I was elected to the Urswick Parish Council in May 2006 and since then have tried to involve myself in many aspects of the Council’s work. I believe that the priorities are to improve the environment of our villages by working to implementing measures to reduce dog fouling, ensuring regular cutting of the grass by the school and other areas of the parish and by providing more litter bins. We also need to provide affordable housing for local people in the parish and implement a road safety strategy to reduce speed through the villages, especially by the school. I believe that our villages should look neat and tidy whilst at the same time retaining their rural character. |

The work I do within the council is geared to ensuring that our villages remain beautiful places to live and work. |

County Councillor Janet Willis Telephone: 01229 861250 Email: janet.willis@cumbriacc.gov.uk After holidaying in the area for many years, I moved from the North East (Tynemouth) 7 years ago to Greenodd. I left my job as a Manager, at Northern Rock's Head Offiice in Gosforth to run Greenodd Village Store & Post Office with my husband, Lloyd. The Post Office counter has since been closed but we still provide an outreach service, 11 hours per week, on behalf of Grange over Sands Post Office. It was after seeing the campaign to save the post office, I was asked to consider becoming a County Councillor. I have no political ambitions but I saw this as an opportunity to get more involved in and helping my local community. I still work in our shop and also work for Furness Enterprise, providing training for people who wish to start their own businesses. Coming from an urban area I very much appreciate our rural communities and want to work to sustain and if possible, improve our way of life in the South Lakes. |
